Woman’s Picture Portraits

Woman’s Picture is an ongoing series of cinematic shorts. The “portraits” in this section focus on individual female characters in the series and are inspired by the women's films of the 30s, 40s, and 50s. The year listed beside each title indicates where in time each story takes place, not when the segment was filmed. Most of the video content on Evelyn Avenue is free to the viewing public (see additional categories below). The portraits in the Woman’s Picture series, however, are view on demand (VOD) and start at $2.99. If you hover over the film’s image, a pop-up window will appear. After a simple sign up process to insure your privacy and security, the films can be downloaded across up to five computers for 48 hours, or can be bought as downloads. You can also purchase these films on DVD by clicking on the “Buy the DVD” below the film (you will then be taken to the Evelyn Avenue store).

The Way I See Things

Evelyn Avenue’s first feature film tells the story of Otto, who embarks on a road trip a year after the death of his long time partner. Connecting with a group of lost souls at a wooded rural commune, Otto tries to distance himself from his past, taking on a new personality. The commune’s rules of etiquette are ultimately too much for him to handle, alter ego or no, and the confusion between his old self and new persona puts him in precarious position among the residents. This series of videos presents unseen footage and sequences from the film.

Evelyn Avenue

Utopias are tricky. This online series of shorts details the efforts of several friends to create their own grassroots film collective. After renting office space over on Evelyn Avenue, they launch a busy production schedule. What follows is a constant procession of flamboyant choreographers, indignant costume designers, neurotic art directors, clueless financiers, and tantrum throwing thespians. The series follows the collective all the way through to the production of their first year of films, dodging their own oversize egos along the way.
